The gold medal waters of the Gunnison river near Pleasure Park, located just downstream from the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park are world famous—for fly fishing, scenery, whitewater rapids and wildlife. This is a must-do trip at least once in a lifetime. Many of our clients come back year after year to repeat the trip, because of their experiences on the water on their first time out. This is truly a one-of-a-kind fishery, the Colorado Department of Wildlife routinely conducts fish surveys revealing the highest concentration of trout on the Gunnison river in the state (8,779 fish / per mile in 2008). No other words can describe this but simply amazing!!
Early June features some of the best dry fly fishing in the country, with an unbelievable stonefly hatch! This hatch attracts people not only from Colorado but, from all over the United States! The stonefly consumes a large portion of our fish's diet and keeps them keyed in on the nymphs year around! Late July through early September is our guide's favorite time to be out as the hopper fishing along the deep undercuts is spectacular! Come watch trophy browns come out from their hiding to engulf large grasshopper imitations! No wonder this trip is on most anglers bucket list!
