Our Field Guide to Guided Fly Fishing

Our Field Guide to Guided Fly Fishing

At Montrose Anglers we ask a lot of questions. They’re questions with a purpose. When you contact us to inquire about a guided trip, we ask these questions to drill down to the details that  will add up to your perfect day on the river. Not all visitors to our shop (or for that matter not all fishermen on the water) seek the same thing out of the adventure.

We want yours to be exactly what you hoped and precisely what you looked forward to when you first heard of Montrose Anglers.

Read through our list below and see if you have an answer to all of the questions. Some are esoteric, like the question, “What would it take to make this a lifelong memory?”

  1. Have you ever been fly fishing before? On a guided trip?
  2. Do you understand the tools rods/reels/line/flies we will be using and their purpose?
  3. If you have been on a trip, how many years/times have you been fly fishing?
  4. What do you consider yourself, a beginner, intermediate or advanced?
  5. How many times per year do you fly fish?
  6. How have those experiences been?
  7. Are you wanting seclusion or do you mind sharing the river with other anglers?
  8. What are your three top objectives/goals for this guided trip, what would make it a success in your mind?
  9. What would make it a lifelong memory?
  10. How can we best make your guided trip the most enjoyable, what is your #1 expectation for us?
  11. Do you have any physical challenges we need to know about or any food allergies?

We’re also curious how it is you found Montrose Anglers. Was it a referral from someone who has fished with us previously or did you find us on the internet?

Now go back to the list above. Read through it a second time and see if your answers changed at all from the first reading.

It’s time to place your call to Montrose Anglers. Call 970-249-0408. You tell us the answers; we’ll arrange the fly fishing trip of a lifetime.
