The Lake Fork of the Gunnison is a pristine freestone river that runs through the town of Lake City, CO and the Curecanti National Recreation Area until it finally flows into Blue Mesa Reservoir. This river provides ample oppurtunities to catch wild trout in some of the most scenic areas in the region.

The Lake Fork of the Gunnison River has been seeing low flows with water temps rising rapidly. We'd recommend fishing closer to the town of Lake City if you plan to fish the Lake Fork of the Gunnison. Get out early and get off early to avoid putting stress on the fish with the warm water temps. Fishing a small dry dropper with a small Chubby (#12-14) and small jigged baetis nymph (#16-18) has been putting fish in the net.
